Renovations at the Heublein Tower |
| Posted on Dec 29 2008 |
The Friends of Heublein Tower, assisted by generous donations from the public, have been busy with renovation projects for the Tower.
The ballroom (known now as the Observation room) has a new oak parquet floor, designed in the style of the original floor.
The DEP completed the new shingling of the roof on the Eisenhower Pavilion, so no more leaks over the barbeque pit!
Two dedicated Board members have completed building one of the massive lights that top the stone pillars leading to the Tower. After many, many volunteer hours, the first light was raised to the stone pillar by the entry gates just in time for the October Tower Toot.
In November, new windows have been installed in the sun porch. The new windows (actually the size of doors!) are in the same style as the original full length windows. This renovation also re-installed the original iron balconies that graced the sun porch for the restoration of the authentic view of the Tower from the front entry. Most importantly, the sun porch will be protected from any further weather damage. The sun porch reminds us of the Heublein family's daily life, when fresh air and relaxation on the porch was part of their routine.
